This blog is the every day rantings of a 44 year old mad woman. Just kidding. It is my rantings, but I don't think I am mad...we have been in the Upper Peninsula now for 2-1/2 years and things are still great. Miss my family in Texas though. Love Ya'll!!

Texas Chili and Bucks
So, I decided to make chili since it has been so cold. Mark and I went to the grocery store on Saturday to buy groceries and I looked for a 2-Alarm Chili kit. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. (These people don' t have any idea what that is. So, we decided that we would have to do it from scratch. Ok, so I went to get chili meat. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Sorry. They didn't have chili meat, but they had "Pasty" meat which is exactly like Chili meat. So I got that and hamburger. Ok, so, we were going through our heads trying to think what was in the chili kit. Chili powder, cayene pepper, garlic/onion, cumin, salt, paprika and masa. I had it all but masa. Went to look in the Mexican food (Or what they call "Gourmet" aisle) and they had no idea what it was. Ok, cornstarch wil do. Fritos and cheese was the finishing touches.
Ok, so I started on Monday and browned the meats and drained it. Then I added 4 T of chili powder, 1 T of the rest of the spices. Plus garlic powder and onion powder. (Next time I will use minced garlic and onion.) 1 can of chopped tomatoes and 1 can of tomato paste. Then I added 3 1/2 cans of water. I let it simmer for about an hour and tasted. I decided it needed a little more of this and that. I went through this most of the day. The finished product was excellent!! Come to find out I didn't need the masa anyway. So, when Mark got home I had the chili ready. I do believe it is the best that I have ever cooked. I will never buy a kit again!
While we were sitting at the table eating, Mark said "Look at the big deer!!!" I looked and this huge buck was walking in front of the condo. (The windows are really big) so Mark grabbed the camera to take pictures but when he took it the flash was on and the deer ran. It was beautiful though. Hunter's dream.
I guess that's all. Tonight I am going to work really hard. We are having sloppy joes!!! We have to go to church tonight and that is quick.
See ya!

10 Days and Counting!!
The phone company has been notified. The light company has been notified. We have cable set up to be started on the 4th. We have a well, so we don't have to turn on the water. We have a gas tank so we don't have to have the gas company to deal with. Once the house sells we are going to fill it completely. There is 75% in the tank right now which will probably get us through the winter, but we want to make sure. The movers will be there on the 3rd with our stuff!! THANK YOU LORD!!! Our couch, chairs and stove will be deliverd on the 4th. Our end tables, coffee table and comforter for our room will be out of lay-a- way on the 5th. I am so excited. I need to be able to put up my pictures, my clocks, my stuff!!!
I also can't wait to get my fishing poles!!! Also, we can get our license and our cars registered and our checking account changed.
Yeah!
Ok. I am going to go now. I am so excited!!!
Bye!

Well?
This week has been a little boring. I did laundry on Tuesday. That was my exciting day. Yesterday I went to the VA and watched the Astros on the big screen until the 4th inning and then we left. We went to the house and measured and did stuff. We can't hardly wait to get moved in and for Jeremy to come and to start having company over.
We sat out on the back stoop looking at the lake for a few minutes. The lake was as smooth as glass. I can't wait to get my rod out of storage so I can get down to that lake!!!
Not much else to report. I am going to make a fresh apple cake for Mark's assistant whose birthday is today but she won't be back till Monday.
I guess that's it.
See ya!

Snow Snow Snow
I forgot in my note about the weekend to say it snowed all day. Ok, flurries, but it still snowed. Sometimes it was heavy, most times it was light. It didn't stick at all though. Soon I'm sure. It was cold this weekend. I don't think it got out of the 30's. Maybe 41 or 42 but that was it!
I have a new indoor/outdoor digital thermometer!!! It's cool! It is wireless. I hung the remote thing outside on a nail and the one inside at this moment is reading 38 degrees outside and 66 degrees inside. Cool!!
When we got home from church last night we noticed that our neighbors have moved. I guess their house finally got finished. Mark is calling the guy today to tell him that we will be moving the first week in November.
We could walk to church through a field from our new house. Preacher was talking about walking across the lake when it freezes. Mark said no way. He fell through the ice when he was a kid and nearly died.
ON a last note, it was a bit of a sad weekend too. Mom called and told me that our long time family friend and our Pastor for many years, D. A. Hamlin passed away. He is the man that led me to the Lord and baptized me. He died on October 14. There is such a beautiful story about this. I will write about it later though. He is now sitting on his steps of his mansion in Heaven eating his big ol bowl of banana pudding. We love you D. A. and will miss you!

Wonderful Weekend
It has been a great weekend. Saturday we went to the...what they call mall here. (Basically it is a strip mall that is closed in. Anyway, they were having a craft fair and a lady that we know from the VA had a table of stained glass and so we told here we'd come look. We couldn't afford it!!! We did get a wood plaque that has a navy blue background, white on it for snow and then three snowmen on it. Across the top she wrote "The Frazees" and under each snowman was our names, Mark, Robbyn, Jeremy. Then she sprayed the artificial snow in the can on it lightly and then sealed it with some kind of sealer so it could hang outside. It is so pretty!!
Then we went to Wausau, WI to the outlet mall so we could go to Casual Male to try and find Mark a couple of dress shirts and pants. Come to find out, they were having a fantastic sale. He got several shirts, a pair of pants and a pair of jeans for less than $150.00. Most was 75% off.
We got back last night and died. Then Ma Frazee called this morning and we accidentally went back to sleep so when the alarm went off at 8:00 we were running around trying to get to church for Sunday School. We were a little late. Anyway, church was great today. It is such a Spirit filled church. Everyone is so nice. We joined today. Mark got Baptized!!!
I guess that's all for now. Oh...wildlife count...I saw many more deer, but I also so a live raccoon. Usually you only see them dead on the side of the road. This one was running across the road.
That's it!!

Cold...Blustery....BRRRRR
It is very very windy and although it is 42 degrees outside with the wind blowing it feels colder. The wind comes up over the hill and at night it makes an eerie sound! Tomorrow night is supposed to be about 26 at night. Also rain and snow for Friday and Saturday.
I am still loving it though. I am up to this challenge!!!
See ya!

Another Day in the Life...of Me!!!
Last couple of days have been pretty uneventful. Until last night! Mark and I went to an Elks Club dinner. It was wonderful. They were there in honor of a group called "Re-Creation" that performs all over the US at Veteran's Hospitals. They were great. Anyway, we had New York strip, baked potatoe, veggies and a salad. Then desert. It was great. Our meal was paid for because Mark is the first chief of Voluntary that has EVER gone to an Elk sponsored event. The didn't like the lady before Mark at all. So, he is trying to make everyone happy. I think it's working.
So, we got home and Jeremy had a slight crisis so we talked him through that. Then at 10:00 mom called and said that the school had called Sherryl and Jeremy had an asthma attack and the inhalers weren't stopping it and they had called 911 and and and...so, of course, Jeremy's insurance card is not the right one. We have new insurance since we moved. So, I called Jeremy's cel phone and a kid answered it and told me where they were taking him. So, Mark called the ER there and explained about the insurance and anyway, after trying to figure out who was going to take Jeremy back to the dorm...thanks Philip....he finally got back to the dorm about 2:00 a.m. Talked to him this morning and he is better. Skipped his first class so he could rest a little more. His throat hurts from the breathing treatment but other than that he's just tired.
So, I guess that's it. Our exciting night.
Bye!!

We Found a House!!!
We have driven by this house with a For Rent sign in front of it for a couple of weeks. Well today we called on it and we went to look at it and we love it!! It is on Moon Lake and I have a fishing pier!!! In the winter the lake will freeze and people will be ice skating on it. It's going to be so great. It has a great view of the lake. 2 bedrooms, one bath. THe kitchen is small but there is lots of storage. There is a mud room that is almost as big as the kitchen. I think we may put the computer in it. We haven't decided yet. We will pay $500.00 a month. So, we are excited. We will move in on November 3. or the week there of. That's when we are having the movers come. We also have to buy an electric stove. I think we are going to get one like Mom's.
SO, look at the pictures below and see our new home.

It's A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood...
We got up this morning and decided to go ahead and go to Green Bay, WI. We took pictures around the mountain first of all of the beautiful colors. God is such an artist. Then on the way to Green Bay we saw a sign for a waterfall called "12 Foot Falls". This was in Wisconsin. Anyway, we turned on the road and drove and drove and drove and drove and drove and...anyway, 10 miles later we finally found it...way out in the boonies. It was beautiful. I don't think the pictures that Mark took do it justice. The water was so clear. I told him I want to come swimming there during the summer. It is just so beautiful.
Then we got to Green Bay and saw the Packer Stadium. It was cool. I am used to covered stadiums and seeing this one, it is uncovered. Boy I must say that Green Bay is all about the Packers!!!
They also have cheese in Wisconsin!! All kinds of cheese. We of course had to try some. It was good.
I guess that's it. It was a beautiful day.
Ok...see ya!!!
